The Walking Dead: Destinies post-plat review: Hey don't play this it's not good. TWD Destinies is a "video game" retelling of the first 4 and a half seasons of AMC's hit show The Walking Dead. The main conceit of the game is that you are able to make choices that alter the flow of events in the game, usually resulting in different characters dying than occurred in the show. That neat idea is executed HORRIBLY; for the most part, every character you save in a choice vanishes from the plot so the writers don't need to worry about what to do with the non-canon survivor. Even if you play a choice straight, the character who lived in the show doesn't interact with the story anymore, even if they are a major player like Carl or Michonne. The rest of the gameplay is a very subpar stealth shooter. The stealth mechanics are theoretical at best; enemies are either too dumb to ever detect you or laser-guided walker warheads with no gray area in between. It's so bad that enemies can even detect you DURING the process of being stealth killed, turning your assassination into a wiffed melee attack. Speaking of, combat is also pretty atrocious. Melee is slow and clunky, and shooting is actually worse, with aiming being nigh impossible and a strange mechanic where if you are attempting to aim and take damage while you pull the trigger, the gunshot is replaced with a melee attack (this makes trophies to do certain missions gun-only tedious at best.) The only complimentary thing I can say about this game is that if I put the disk into my PS5 it spins. The game boots and can be cleared. At least it's better than Gollum in that regard. 1/10
