1.5/5 ★ – Lancey's review of Soulworker.
Cute but... Pay to Win and Farm to Gamb...
*This concerns the GameForge version of the Game.
If you enjoy farming to be rewarded, Soul Worker is definitely not for you.
To get optimized, you have two choices, be a whale, or waste thousands of hours (at this point of the game it might not be enough). Everything in this game is RNG even ranking depends on it at some points, since mobs must not commit specific patterns in order to keep a good timing. There are crucial items required to enhance equipment which are not farmable, like strength extension tickets or protects, building new throwaway alt characters is not called farming, it's called breaking the mmo rules (and for the worst, sadly). Most of the time you will make those alt-characters for nothing, without any result, any progression. Card system (AR Cards) is the icing on the cake, it is clearly pay to win material, a scam almost as blatant as Fate GO's Gacha Gambling. Events in GF's version are most of the time unrewarding and worsen the previous points, unless they screw up with their maintenance, giving unfortunately a decisive advantage to a fraction of malicious players. PvP is fun (but unbalanced). Graphically using Vision Engine, which is a kinda old engine but it does the job for a mid-poly anime game like Soul Worker. + Every class is unique and has its own game-play and story line, the plot isn't great but is not bad either! You might become attached to certain characters! The protagonists, action rpg style, combat system, skill rotation, voice cast, makes the game fun and smooth to play, unfortunately this is a facade, the issues mentioned at first are too significant in the long term, and you should strongly consider them before getting addicted.
If you feel attracted to the playable characters, consider yourself overall lucky in mmo's, and doesn't care in GameForge's terrible QoS then you might have a good time, otherwise there is no way I can recommend the game
