4.5/5 ★ – Layaway_Virgin's review of Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
I played this on: PS4
Keys:
-The background of the main menu will lag.
-Forced to skip a repetitive cutscene any time you want to play and you have to skip it again when you lose connection to hosts.
-Discount FPS Gauntlet.
-Why do wizards always look like they fell off the ugly tree?
-Veteran quick play can take 30 seconds to 5 minutes just for finding a game.
-Champion quick play and above will most likely just make you host and you’ll eventually find people mid-way through your journey.
-The games graphics can get really bad and choppy when in someone else’s Keep, it doesn’t effect gameplay however, just graphical bugs.
-Sometimes the Bridge of Shadows takes a while to register you entered.
-Interacting with in game items is kind of delayed or laggy at times.
-Even with a maxed out sensitivity it still feels extremely slow to turn and maneuver.
-No sprint.
-No quick bash or shove mechanic, you have to block to shove.
-Tomes, No seriously.
-Art collectibles.
-Trophies on PSN take 30-40 seconds to register.
-For a game with very nice lighting and shaders its a shame that the darkness is pitch black. You can’t see shit in these mines.
-Sometimes the bots rubber band and even stand in fire killing themselves.
-Bots and other players can bump into you while aiming and fuck up your long distant shots.
-You would think the animation for reviving teammates would he synced with the healing bar. Instead it shows the animation once the bar is filled taking even longer.
-Fall Damage does exist but only sometimes.
-Victor’s character is rather boring compared to the others.
+Adding an epileptic warning in an update.
+Discount Left 4 Dead.
+Discount Gimli.
+Victor looks more like a pilgrim then a hunter of anything.
+I really like the personalities of all the characters and the variations are pretty interesting.
+A lot of the time your going to want a coordinated team so you’re going to want to bring a headset along this journey, especially if you want the Platinum Trophy.
+Loading times aren’t ridiculous for recruit quick play!
+Recruit games can average around 25-40 minutes so that a great length of time per level.
+I do like the idea that loot you find in game such as dice, art and tomes all play a role in getting you better loot in the end game.
+The different weather effects make the maps fucking badass and really bring out the chaos in most maps.
+Discount Team Fortress 2’s Payload mode.
+These maps are full of detail and gorgeous, not crazy linear so you can also get turned around and lost in the heat of battle and its aftermath pretty easily.
+The large hoards can be extremely intense.
+Potions are a nice touch to combat as well as the special abilities.
+The Special and Elite enemies are really interesting and fun to fight against.
+Books?
+The near infinite dodge mechanic is a god send.
+Blocking is about half of the gameplay.
+The skill trees are cool and helpful but also kind of generic.
+The characters interactions together are great but also somewhat limited.
+The Boss fights are fun as hell and badass but not too easy nor very difficult.
+After getting each character to level 13, I can say without a doubt that Bardin and Kerillian are my favorite to play.
This game is beautiful, ferocious and jaw dropping. The gameplay is great but a tad slow at times while the combat is very rapid and chaotic. The lighting and shaders where phenomenal along with the world design and graphics. Sound was not only an asset but also a helpful resource at a lot of times.
Even though the game is close to being just a copy and paste of the Left 4 Dead games, Vermintide II has that Warhammer spin on everything makes it just unique enough to be a game of it’s own ending up being rather enjoyable experience you can have again and again.
