5/5 ★ – LeGwynnbleidd's review of Alan Wake II.

And finally.....the culmination of it all, the reason I decided to play those remedy games. The reason I ended up making the BEST gaming decision of my life. Alan Wake 2. I could go on and on about this game and its story, absolutely breathtaking, exciting and shocking in countless ways. The performances and voice acting, through the roof perfection! The visuals my god were so majestic. The gameplay, was reminiscent to the likes of RE:re, in a good way. Though there were the unique additions of the writer's room and the mind place which I absolutely loved. The characters, my god I loved everybody. Even the smaller role characters like my kings Ilmo and Jaako. I also absolutely loved the way they wove in some more of the Finnish culture. As well as adding a (secret) short film WITHIN the game!! That's the coolest thing ever! Yötön Yö (Nightless night) was a quick, immersive and spectacular discovery. However, what was most intensely wonderful in this gameplay, second only to the music, was the atmosphere. I felt so properly stranded as Saga in the woods and her other environments. Afraid of the most slight thing popping out of the trees and jumping my heart. The atmosphere for Alan, was on a whole other level though. The dark place was so crazily immersive, so absolutely terrifying to walk through and visually stunning as the rest of the game is! Finally...the most beautiful part of this experience to me was the music. Good. God. The music is INSANE, the old gods of asgard (PotF) and all the chapter song artists snapped so SO hard they've all crafted addicting songs! And I still replay them all to this day, months after beating the game. Also, Sam Lake is now my favourite person in this industry and Remedy, I will always be there day 1 with my wallet ready. I'm so excited to dive into the DLC when they release.
