What a fun game. Everything in Hades works pretty seamlessly together between the story, the progression, and the moment to moment gameplay to create a cohesive and reactive experience. The regular tropes of Rogue-likes are here with solid progression as well as a personal skill improvement, making that “final” boss fight feel rewarding. Perhaps my favorite part about Hades though is how it respects your time. Depending on whether you have a few minutes to play or a few hours, Hades’ bite sized chunks let you scale your play time to fit your schedule. Pair that with the Switch’s sleep function and you have a game that is exceptionally kind to busy folks. All in all I was eager to beat Hades. Excited by the challenge and hungry to overcome it. But even after escaping the shackles of the Underworld the mystery and heart pounding gameplay called me right back.
