4/5 ★ – Liontamer55460's review of Metaphor: ReFantazio.

It's insane to me that this game has one of the worst twists I've seen in a JRPG but equally, one of the bests too thanks to that ending and epilogue as the saving grace. Persona may seem like an after thought to me now because this game set a bar for Atlus in how they can make a world-building RPG without being limited to a character driven one with repetitive sim activities. Louis is one the best "videogame" villains ever for me, the writing, the theatrics, it's unbelievable how amazing of a character he is out of the many games I've played in 2024. Metaphor's entire party members, one of the best, equal in scope to LAD for me. But as I'm doing NG+ for the platinum trophy, they really didn't thought about the replayability. Feels tedious as hell knowing im forced to do it only for a secret super boss midway through it. Hard for me to pick between this Or Infinite Wealth as "my" GOTY. But it's ultimately Infinite Wealth because of it's characters and the emotions I have with it's protagonists. Both are stellar games but suffer from the same thing where they butchered the narrative or with it's pacing.
