1.5/5 ★ – Luitenant_Gruber's review of Slap The Fly.

Broken, incomplete mess for still too high a price. Slap The Fly is, just like Zoo Keeper Simulator, not a game you must take seriously. It is a game about a vermin exterminator versus a house pest like a fly, spider, or mosquito. The pests need to survive until the timer runs out and the exterminator needs to kill the vermin before that time. The game offers four modes: Regular versus mode, some kind of “eat the cake before the exterminator gets you” mode which sucks ass because it is far too easy, a dodge ball mode in which the exterminator must hit tiny flies with balls and an obstacle run mode. For six dollars/euro’s you would say that it offers great value, except for one problem, half of the game does not even work or feels finished. And no, this game is not in “Alpha mode” or early access. The main mode, in which you can be different pests and chose if you want to be an insect or an exterminator is straight out broken. In the selection screen the buttons for choosing your team or your character/pest does not even work. The buttons do nothing, I repeat nothing if you press them. So, in short, the vermin side is ALWAYS a fly and the exterminator side are always a stereotype dude in a yellow suit. Also, it is completely random who will be the exterminator and who will be the fly, even when you should be able to choose. To be honest, the game is quite fun and hilarious, and the obstacle course mode and dodge ball mode are great fun, me and my friend enjoyed them, but beside the problem I described above, there are more issues that ruin the fun right away. The two game breakers are the physics that are so bad, it makes the game unwinnable sometimes. The prime example for this is the inaccessible hiding places for the flies in which they can just sit there and wait for the timer to run out, while the exterminator has no chance. Another big problem is the hit detection, it is one of the worst I have seen in a game, how cheap and small it may be. The obstacle mode is the most fun you can get out of this game, but the hit box for the various traps is just one big mess. There are no rules for if you get hit or not. Even when you picture a square box around your little fly, it still hits you when you go two miles below an obstacle. Other times you pass by a laser beam with two inches to spare, and you are fine. So overall, Slap The Fly is fun for some sessions with your friends, but because the game feels broken, unfinished and has a ton of problems, I would not recommend it.
