Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Day of Review and Rating: 9/22/2024 Started: 9/16/2024 Finished: 9/21/2024 Last Played: 9/21/2024 Hours to Beat: 17 Total Hours: 17 Completion: Main Game Trophy Completion: N/A Played On: Laptop !!! WARNING: SPOILERS !!! To be clear, this is the version of the first game that is on the Trilogy HD on Steam. Anyway, I have been waiting to dive into this series for some time now. I played Danganronpa before, and I remember this getting recommended alongside it. They were obviously two different games despite the trials in Danganronpa being heavily similar to the ones in Phoenix Wright. The first 2 cases were decent, but nothing stood out for me. Sure, there were some cool moments here and there, but not what I wanted out of the game. The third case became very tedious with all the moving around, but it had an interesting story. One thing I wasn't expecting was how connected all trials would be. There were many references from previous and future trials, making the game more enjoyable. The fourth case of the game had to be my favorite as it was genuinely hard to piece together what could have happened. The way everything was set up was cool, and the way its story builds and connects to Edgeworth's past was brilliant. I loved the fact the bullet was still inside Karma, and it was an insane trial. The fifth case was also great, but not as good. It was a bit too long and had moments where it was predictable. Since some of Lana's involvement was kinda obvious, I wish it had taken quicker to get to the final day. I liked how it all wrapped up with Gant starting it all off, though. I do think that playing case 5 after 4 ruined the experience a bit because there were similarities between the cases that made things a bit more predictable. The music of course was good. The track that plays at big reveals SLAPS, and the other trial music is great too. One lackluster thing was the art style, though. It feels very bland and mundane to me. It didn't fit the personality of the game entirely. Overall, the game was very good, and I definitely want to get into the best cases of the series and experience some batshit twists, those things are always the best. Pros: + Iconic lines and OST + Good twists and engaging mysteries + Likeable cast with funny ass moments Cons: - Investigation Portions are tedious with backtracking and aren't very interesting At Time of Review: High 7/10 Mechanics: 7/10 Story and Characters: 8/10 Presentation: 6/10 Enjoyability: 8/10 Edit: Should have definitely raised the score up to 8. Yeah the gameplay isn't amazing, but what the fuck it was a charming ass game. Solid 8/10
