4.5/5 ★ – Lunarnier's review of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.

Last year I started playing JRPG turn based games, so I do not have a lot of references in this genre, but this game has set the bar in the stratosphere. I did not play the vanilla version of SMTV so I will only be reviewing Vengeance without making a comparison with the original. It feels GREAT to have both routes, with a whole new area for the new Vengeance route. The characters lack a lot of depth, but the story is good, although the latter is hardly the strongest feature this game has to offer. Combat feels AMAZING, explorarion feels rewarding, hard mode is really challenging and im looking forward to playing Godborn Mode and unlocking all the achievements. The amount of demons available is great and their design is really interesting, although most of them have been used for a lot of time in other Atlus' games. I really love the theme of the game. It's really simple and lacks depth but It is really enjoyable for me. There is something about God being dead (not a spoiler, this happens really early) that feels WRONG. I'm not a religious person, but it still feels really scary to think about a demon that managed to kill God, and I love that feeling. Last but not least, the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in my life. Beautiful, eerie, enygmatic, it is wonderful. This game truly felt magical for me and I will be getting that platinum soon
