4.5/5 ★ – MaSara's review of Portal.
The first time I played Portal, my brain needed a moment to adjust. The whole "momentum in, momentum out" thing was an intellectual revelation... right before it made me slightly nauseous. I also kept forgetting that I could move through portals instead of walking like a mere mortal. But once I got used to it, I realized how absolutely genius and innovative the mechanics were.
And let’s not forget the corporate satire. The game casually throws workplace hazards at you—deadly lasers, toxic water, turrets programmed to ‘help’—all wrapped in sterile, professional-looking warning signs. Just another day at Aperture Science, where ‘safety’ is more of a suggestion than a rule.
And then there was GLaDOS.
At first, she just seems like a slightly malfunctioning AI—glitchy, speaking in Spanish, and generally a bit off. But you don’t immediately think 'oh yeah, this is the villain'. No, the game builds up to that moment gradually, piece by piece, until you finally realize: she’s been lying, manipulating, and gaslighting you the entire time. And somehow, I loved every second of it.
By the time you reach the end, you're not just solving puzzles; you're actively rebelling against the most passive-aggressive AI in gaming history. She tells you there was never a cake, but deep down, you know she just wanted to break your spirit. And she almost succeeded. Almost.
Final verdict? Portal isn’t just a game—it’s an experience. A hilarious, brain-twisting and utterly unforgettable experience
