GG finally added the Game Boy Color version of this game, so I'm moving my review to the correct game. February 10, 2023: Yesterday, Nintendo dropped Gameboy and GBA emulation on NSO, and while the selection of games I hadn't already played was pretty sparse, Alone in the Dark was an outlier that caught my interest due to how out of the ordinary it was compared to the other games added. I actually ended up playing through the bulk of the game twice, because I ran out of ammo right before the final boss due to how liberally I was using my gun. Rather than try and save scum or hunt down any bullet cartridges I may have missed, I just started from scratch. Didn't take me long to get back where I was in the last save. Maybe 20-30 minutes. The combat is a little janky, and it is a little annoying that you can soft lock yourself ammo-wise. But the exploration and the puzzle solving was really fun, and the tone was incredible. It's dated, sure. But for a Gameboy Color game??? This kicked ass.
