4/5 ★ – ManWithAMovieCam's review of What Remains of Edith Finch.

A creative and grim narrative that walks you through the death of your relatives, What Remains of Edith Finch is not so much of a "game" as it is a first-person scavenger hunt. There aren't a lot of mechanics to work with: you can walk, run, jump, and investigate (if I remember correctly). The level design is extremely creative--it was like touring a treehouse, except the treehouse was the main house, and it was built by someone with a disposable income and an affinity for books. Each story plays differently than the last, I found myself in awe of some of the creative choices that blended incredibly well with the narrative. And the fact that you're playing these lives to see how they end adds a layer of hopelessness to the game as you fill your book with the last findings of your family. The game is relatively short: with a little over 5 hours of gameplay, it isn't something I would feel proud buying at full price, and after the first run, there isn't a ton of replay value. But if you have an Xbox, Gamepass, and a couple afternoons, then this game is well worth a look. I loved every moment. I give it 4 dead family members... out of 5.
