3/5 ★ – MechaniChris's review of Final Fantasy III.

This is on the verge of being a very good game, and certainly it’s the best if the original 3. So many quality of life improvements with a far superior story (though admittedly still pretty thin). It’s obviously very similar to those games, but tweaked just slightly to improve the experience. The only reason this isn’t a 3.5 star game for me is that the endgame is so punishingly difficult, it actively sucked the fun out for me. I sat for HOURS grinding after being obliterated by the final set of bosses, and it’s not like you can just run back to them. You have to trudge through three entire dungeons to get back and HOPEFULLY be strong enough this time. There’s no health refill either, so if you blow through your magic and potions on the way? Too bad. You’re done. Apart from that though, pretty good early RPG. Just be prepared for that. Over prepare even.
