4/5 ★ – MechaniChris's review of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

When I found out the second Luigi’s Mansion was on a handheld, I was genuinely bummed out. The first one was SO GOOD! Why would they dump this on a platform that clearly can’t handle that kind of gameplay? It turns out I had a very different idea of what the 3DS was capable of. Until this game, I thought it was a glorified DS with a 3D function. I had no idea it was essentially a handheld GameCube and more than capable of delivering a home console experience. I don’t think it’s as good as the original, but through no fault of the 3DS. I just preferred the one big location to the several smaller locations approach. I also appreciated how unstructured the first game felt compared to the rigid levels of this one. Other than that, it nearly on par. The gameplay is exceptional and the graphics are virtually the same. Luigi has a higher percentage of good games than Mario and we don’t talk about it enough.
