2.5/5 ★ – MechaniChris's review of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.

Obviously my main issue with this game is that it is literally just a mobile mini game from Resident Evil 5. There’s no attempt at a story mode, nothing beyond: Kill as many enemies as you can before the time runs out. That’s the entire game. Admittedly, it is fun at times. The shooting mechanics oddly feel more polished on the 3DS than they do in the actual RE5. Plus it’s fun to play through these with other characters like Rebecca, Barry, and of course Wesker. They even included a couple levels and enemies from RE4. Then again, over half of the levels are tutorials. There’s very little actual maps in the game and the experience becomes extremely repetitive very quickly. There’s only one boss enemy in the game and it’s maybe one of the worst bosses in the franchise. It’s just that big thing from RE5 that you need to flip over with explosives. You fight it twice and it sucks. I honestly did not need to play through this, but as it is an official release, I felt compelled. My only real interest in this franchise is the plot however, so you can imagine my disappointment.
