3/5 ★ – MechaniChris's review of Sonic Forces.

This game had a really bad reputation, but I kind of like it? It plays a lot like generations, but adds back the overwrought dramatic story telling of the Adventures games. It also lets you make your own furry—I mean Sonic character, which is both dumb and fun. I would much rather play as one of Sonic’s friends, but it is cool to collect new outfits for your… Sonic-sona? Infinite is a fun new enemy, and I was pretty shocked to see the boss from Sonic Lost Worlds appear so soon after his failed Wii U title as one of Infinite’s minions. That said, I did wish we had gotten to see more of him as a character. Shadow has so much backstory, where is the origin of this guy? The levels are short and fun, and offer a lot of replayability. It also does away with lives which is so nice. It really lifted the pressure when I can just replay the levels as often as I want without worrying about wasting my back up lives. I don’t know. I really don’t get why this entry is so maligned. Have you guys played some of the other Sonic games? They’re AWFUL.
