4/5 ★ – MechaniChris's review of Super Mario Galaxy 2.

It really is astounding that so many direct sequels to great games in the Mario franchise are just worse rehashes. I mean, you got the Lost Levels, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and now this. In all fairness, this is still a great game in its own right, but save for the inclusion of Yoshi, every different decision it makes from the first Mario Galaxy is a worse one. In fact, if it weren’t for Yoshi, this would be a full half star lower. The Starship is less cool, the story is much worse, the level designs are somehow more frustrating. I know everyone is clamoring for an Odyssey 2, but if it’s just another example of leftovers from the previous game, I’m not interested. Do something new.
