4/5 ★ – Miker525's review of Binary Domain.

Binary domain was an absolute blast to play for the first time in 2020. I can see some of the issues people may have taken with the game on launch though I think it's actually aged pretty well. Though the game is a classic Gears style cover shooter BD adds neat new mechanics - things like using your microphone to vocally command your squad, constantly revolving squad members, differing squadmate abilities and a "like" system in which your actions and vocal responses effect how much your squad mates like you and help you. The characters are all unique with great personalities, leading to genuine interactions. Level design was hit or miss but when it hit the levels were awesome. And the story was great. This really took the same momentum and feel of the Yakuza games and shifted it perfectly into the shell of a third person cover shooter. No one could pull this off as masterfully as Ryu Ga Gotoku studios and they did it near flawlessly. I sincerely hope this game gets a sequel going forward and would absolutely still recommend this game despite it only being playable on the Xbox 360
