3.5/5 ★ – MomagicLOL's review of Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic.
I had no expectations going into the 12th mainline FIVE NIGHT’S AT FREDDYS game, but I came out of this horror game mostly surprised that it was alot better than I was initially gonna give it credit for.
My BIGGEST gripe about this game is that SECRET OF THE MIMIC doesn’t really feel like a Five Nights game, which took me out of it a bit as it felt more like Alien Isolation with random funny creatures trying to rip your damn face off.
There ARE references to FNAF games as this game predates even the earliest games in this franchise, which makes it a bit awkward to work with at times since there isn’t anything all too familiar unless you’ve played Security Breach, and most people who play FNAF don’t like that game.
Also the mimic doesn’t show up until the VERY end of the game, and for this game to be called “Secret of the Mimic” they really hold that secret with gorilla grip until the last hour, which kinda stunk balls.
The gameplay is solid, the story isn’t bad but it doesn’t really feel apparent unless you pick up on every context clue and know everything this game throws at you.
The game is pretty scary, so don’t worry.
