5/5 ★ – MrGeneric's review of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

5 - Masterpiece Wow. Just wow. Expedition 33 really is something special. A hard-hitting dive into how everyone reacts differently in the face of grief. Watching the entire family be torn apart by the loss of a loved one and all trying to deal with it in their own ways was brutal. At first there was clearly a villain, but by the end it didn't feel like there were any at all. Just troubled individuals all trying to cope in whatever way they could. The plot to the game was already so incredibly intriguing right at the start with the countdown system. But the real story ended up being so much more than that. I know its a meme to say it, but Expedition 33 really is CINEMA. Every other cutscene felt like it had me on the verge of tears. From the prologue, to the end of act 1, to the ends acts 2 & 3 and then the ending. Which yes, I have just listed basically the entire game. The whole story is so damn heart wrenching but so damn good. And a very special shoutout to the music. Some of the most beautiful tracks you'll hear in any game ever. All so emotionally charged and matched the tone of every moment. It really felt like the weight of the entire narrative rested on your shoulders in the big moments. Just a beautiful experience from start to finish.
