2.5/5 ★ – NiGHTS108's review of A Game About Digging A Hole.
Yeah like I suppose it's a game where I appreciate the minimalism of it, sorta, 2023 me probably would've given this like a 2/10 but like, digging a hole, and many have observed this before, it's kind of just an inherently appealing thing that you can do.
Talking about why A Game About Digging A Hole is actually interesting to me is sort of just redundant, mainly because it is interesting because it is a game about digging a hole. I suppose this is a game about the little things, which I'll take some time to praise, like how a little pop-up appears when you haven't saved the game in 30 minutes. Or how your digging tool finally gets big enough that you can just dig straight up or down only at the end. Video games.
I guess all I really got against it is the ending is a bit insipid. Like I dunno, Simulacrum type of thing, it's like the bare minimum plot twist and I'm sorta just sitting there while it happens wondering what the game wants me to think. I'd find it considerably less eye rolling if you just got the treasure at the end. Whatever though.
Yeah. Sure. Why not. I mean I like Dragon Quest.
