2.5/5 ★ – Niclau's review of Red Faction: Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered.
After several years, and several different versions/consoles, I've finally managed to play through Red Faction Guerilla. I've played the ReMARStered version on the switch, and let me say first of the bat: this is definitely not the way to play it. The frame rate is all over the place and the controls feel awfully imprecise, partly due to the small analogue sticks of the joy cons.
Now, the games signature feature, the Geo-mod destruction, is honestly really fun and cool. It feels great to level a building, piece by piece. Other than that, however, the game really doesn't have much going for it. The world is bland, the missions are generally samey and the gunplay is sooo unimpactful. The guns generally does way too little damage, it feels like when you throw a punch in a dream, it doesn't connect! Later in the game, Mason dies too easily, some of the deaths simply feels cheap. And the loading times, oh god the loading times.
Really hasn't aged well, but will give it some slack for it's age. Don't play the switch version.
