A fantastic update to a cult classic. I loved Nier when it first released here in the west but felt it was held back by mediocre combat and barren level design. The story, cast and music definitely made up for it tho and it was one of my favorite games in the PS3 gen. Now, with this update, the combat feels alot smoother, and feels alot more like its sequel, Nier Automata. The level design shows its age but the new additions make up for it. Playing brother Nier is nice and watching him go from a kid who just wants to save his sister to a young man driven to a life of fighting constantly is great and I didn't miss Father Nier at all. But honestly it would have been nice if he was included as an option as well, just to round out the package. The new ending is beautiful and poignant, and is worth the price of admission alone, if youre a returning fan. If you've only played automata, this is a must play.
