5/5 ★ – NikoG4mes's review of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
Finally completed this game. After many excuses and just no motivation to play on the little 3ds for a long time I decided to finally finish the game. I got my 3ds back in 2016 and Ocarina of Time was the first game I had and played but I never got past the first section of the game and I just couldn’t figure out what to do so I just gave up on it for many many years. That’s up until recently before this Christmas, I got into Zelda again which I have my yearly phase of the franchise that I love playing so I really wanted to finally play Ocarina of Time which is known to be the best of the best all the way through and I was committed to it. Again I found myself with no motivation and not really playing it as often as I should, at first I did play a lot of it but as a week or two went by I stopped playing for like weeks and only picked it up again a while after and again did only one temple and put it down. Finally this weekend I said fuck it I’m gonna complete this game I had a decent road trip ahead so I thought I’d use that time to play and finish the game today I’m getting back from the road trip and only had a couple hours left to the game so I was able to finish it. I’ve never ever been more connected to a game ever, even when I wasn’t playing I wanted to play it I just couldn’t get the courage to play on the small hand held console which is a stupid excuse but whatever. Every single temple and area in this game are the best in the entire franchise, I loved every single part of the adventure and not one moment was lack luster or boring the entire game was perfection. Whether it’s the bosses that feel cinematic or the mind bending puzzle and challenges in the temples in its core the game is very peaceful for most of the time. It’s not hard to get lost in the vast region of Hyrule displayed here. That first feeling of stepping out into the world is like a breath of fresh air and very similar to the first time I got off the Great Plateau in Breath of The Wild but of course this is better. Objectively and Subjectively the best Zelda game and there’s no argument I don’t want to hear it. Link is a far more complex and interesting character in this entry of the franchise, sure he doesn’t talk as per usual but his backstory, motives and responsibilities make for some fantastic character development and dynamics. My favourite part of the game is either Ganon’s Castle or Kakariko Village. My favourite boss fight is Ganondorf for its cinematic and visuals. My favourite temple is either the Forest Temple or Ganon’s Castle. As for the best moment for me was stepping out into the world for the first time and the ending. I really really loved this game like everyone did only very late to the bandwagon. I don’t think a game will ever impress me this much upon first playthrough or impact me as emotionally as much as this did. Absolutely spectacular no flaws.
