3.5/5 ★ – NoahIsAHuman's review of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - Killing Nazis will always be cool.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is a fantastic game, and although it’s sequel doesn’t quite reach the same highs, Wolfenstein II is still a fun time!
I played this over two primary periods of time, so it’s not super fair for me to judge the story here, because I forgor most of it. So no comment on the story, apart from that it DOES have some of the most memorable story moments of any game I’ve played. The diner scene especially, alongside the movie audition and the “execution” of B.J. Blazkowicz.
The gameplay is really fun, it’s a natural evolution of what The New Order started! I love how Wolfenstein and Doom took such different approaches with their guns, making all of them so unique but also making combat in a way that one game’s toolset can’t really work with the other. My only complaints with the gunplay is that some weapons can feel really imprecise, and that there could be some balancing done to a few of them, mostly the heavy weapons to make using them actually worthwhile.
MachineGames are truly a worthy successor to id Software for Wolfenstein, and I wish we had a Wolfenstein III by now!! But maybe it’s worth checking out their Indiana Jones game instead, I get to punch Nazis again! I wonder if there’s any Wolfenstein Easter eggs in that game?
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus gets a 7/10!
