4/5 ★ – NuvaMania's review of Jak 3.

A great end to a solid trilogy. Thank god for the checkpoints here versus the lack of them in Jak 2. Jak 3 continues to add on top of what Jak 2 introduces with its gunplay, but introduces more gameplay elements like Light Jak or driving through the wasteland to ensure it isn’t just another Jak 2. You rely very heavily on the weapons here and we move even further away from the platforming/melee combat that was so prominent in Jak 1. While I miss a nice platformer, the series needed these changes to stand out from one another but also stand out in its genre. The story also improves by adding greater stakes to the situation. Everything feels like you building towards a grand finale and the last act has great missions to compliment the culmination of the trilogy’s story. But man, driving is so bad. Very floaty and hard to maneuver your car without flipping over or steering off the path. If this was improved I would have given this an extra half-star but it does hinder the overall experience and stands out as the worst addition, which is sad since it was arguably the biggest gameplay addition aside from Light Jak. Speaking of Light Jak, I loved it. In the Jak trilogy, the player is always on the offensive but with Light Jak you can take a step back and be defensive whether using a shield or healing yourself. This was easily my favorite addition and wish it was introduced in Jak 2 to make those difficulty spikes much more manageable. With its gameplay changes and story, Jak 3 is my favorite of trilogy. Had a great time playing through the series for the first time.
