4.5/5 ★ – Okelheimer's review of God of War: Ragnarök.

God of War: Ragnarok God or War: Ragnarok (GOWR) is the perfect successor to God of War. I’m not going to say it’s as good as the first one, but it’s close. I enjoyed the gameplay and the story. Both were similar enough to the first game that it felt good and familiar, while different enough still to be fresh and continually engaging. The gameplay is GOWR feels good. You get the same bad-ass fighting in Kratos as you find in GOW, but you also get the addition of playing as Atreus. I enjoyed getting to know him better and learning the skills in his kit. This story was much more…heavy. It was all about vengeance and getting back at Odin. Don’t get me wrong—it was great. But I will say it didn’t feel like it had quite as much emotion and heart as the first one did. I will always think this spin on Norse mythology to be one of my favorites, and this game wrapped up the journey well. All in all this game hit the spot, and it will take its place among my favorites.
