4.5/5 ★ – OliviaDaggers's review of Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores.
This DLC is excellent. One of the better ones I've played in recent memory. It is not perfect though, I have some personal bias which is why it is rated 5 stars.
The Bad
The collectibles is relegated to either being very simple or confusing. The aerial captures are extremely simple and doesn't ask much out of you. I believe it's down to both the flying mount being very slow and also not really making you fly through any challenging areas (the mount also feels even slower during the captures). The reward is interesting though at least in my opinion. Just like with vantages in both Forbidden West and Zero Dawn, seeing images from before the faro plague or in the case of aerial captures during the faro plague is very fascinating.
The Delvers Trinkets I believe they were called is confusing to me. I don't get how I was supposed to find them without looking up a guide. Was I supposed to search every inch of the island. The only hint I could spot to finding them was Oseram camps and equipment near the trinkets and those are harder to spot from the air (at least for me personally). Now maybe they were more ways to find them that I missed but every collectible suffers with the confusion problem for me in Burning Shores. My last complaint about the trinkets is the reward for finding the treasure is underwhelming. It would have been cooler to get another upgrade for the specter gauntlet.
