4/5 ★ – PaisanSensei's review of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - Deluxe Edition.

Jedi: Fallen Order establishes itself as one of the most interesting takes in the new Star Wars canon, not necessarily in the big picture, but in its ability to craft a fun and touching narrative through the strength of its characters. I played this game when it was first released and absolutely loved it and when they announced a next-Gen patch, I figured it would be the perfect time to re-experience it and jump back in. Now, it’s by no means a flawless game; I’ve found since the introduction of the patch, the game is even more buggy than I remember it being. There are weird phasing and clipping issues, and some wonky mechanics that can make the exploration and puzzles a bit troublesome. However, these are navigable and don’t break the overall experience of the game, which is just as exciting and rewarding in its combat, as it is challenging. The addition of the difficulty slider is great for those who may want the story experience without necessarily tearing their hair out over a combat sequence. There are some really unique features in the combat, and it takes a lot of its ideas away from the souls games, relying on timing a parry correctly and learning enemy patterns for when to dodge and move rather than take on the force of the blow. Mix that idea in with Jedi combat techniques and you have yourself a mostly competent and extremely fun means of taking on the Empire. But what really makes this game wonderful is the narrative direction and character interactions that are engaging and full of unique personality. It makes the journey that much sweeter and immersive as you really get a feel for these characters and start to love them, flaws and all. This met with some really beautiful, well constructed levels and environments makes for a great starting off point for a potentially wonderful game franchise for the coming years.
