3.5/5 ★ – Panossa's review of Far Cry 6.
Since Far Cry 4 is mindless fun with a (imo) quite bad baddie and Far Cry 3 is (imo) the best Story FPS there is, I'd say FC6 managed to be somewhere in between. The setting is really good, the antagonist is no Vaas but at least he's believable.
Sadly the leveling system Ubisoft now puts into everything did two things:
1. The game feels like "a Ubisoft game". Quite similar to Division. Definitely similar to newer installments of Ghost Recon, AC and/or Watch Dogs Legion. It all plays mostly the same because the world is just littered with icons and way more busywork than FC3, mostly quite default tasks and so on. I once ran around 20 minutes around a town to unlock a special chest that gave me boots with a miniscule boost on something.
2. Since FC6 tries to be a stealth game, the leveling system OFTEN breaks the immersion. People without helmets getting headshots and surviving them, now slightly annoyed, is just inexcusably bad.
TL;DR: If you have no other game good enough to just relax after a work day, this is good. Sadly the interesting story clashes too much with the gameplay to play this for the story alone. :/
