4/5 ★ – PaperSpock's review of Hades.

Hades took a while to click with me. I tend to have a preference for roguelikes where the main progression that influences whether you beat the game is an increase in skill, rather than the game getting easier over time because you unlock more starting health, or a higher attack power. Hades is not the type of roguelike that I prefer! However, its quality nonetheless shone through despite this, and it won me over in the end. I don't think there's much I can say that hasn't been said before, but its loop is extremely good, especially its encouragement to juggle weapons from run to run, promoting gameplay variety from run to run. I am looking forward to Hades II becoming complete because after my experience with this game I absolutely will have to give it a go!
