3/5 ★ – PatrixRaider's review of Tony Hawk's™ Pro Skater™ 3 + 4.

I am currently playing but I played enough to have an opinion. It is a great game but a poor remake/remaster.. It plays a lot like 1+2 but slightly clunkier. THPS 3 is pretty much recreated. However, unlike the original. The specific style objectives like S-K-A-T-E, Stat points and decks do not change. In the original, Vert and Street skaters had specific objectives which make it feel a bit half-assed. THPS 4, the career mode is not here and it shows. The 2 minute format (even if you put the timer at 60 minutes) does not work with this. It's all right but not having NPCs take away from the charm and personality of what made THPS 4 special, The levels feel lifeless. Only 10 original songs made the cut... the lack of budget is definitely felt. Not knocking on the new songs but a remake or remaster purpose is to make me feel nostalgia. And when 90% of the songs are new. It takes away, The lack of unlockables take away from the fun. Here again. The lack of budget is felt. No Jango fett. No wolverine. No Darth Maul. The porn stars i can understand being a game for everyone. But damn. We have Bam Magera (who should be unlocked from the start, a ninja turtle, a birdman skeleton? and 2 variations of jack black. Missing Levels. Chicago and Carnival are missing. They are replaced with 3 new levels, which are solid. And the Zoo, is now a competition zone with no animals. At the end of the day, I would have prefered a new game. But as a remake I have to give it a 6. While 1+2 easily replaced the original games. 3+4, I will still play the original games. If this was a new game entirely It would be a solid 8. I don't want Iron Galaxy to remake THUG 1 and 2 but I would definitely buy a entirely new game made from scratch. They showed us that they can build solid levels.
