5/5 ★ – Perrythe8's review of Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru Episode 8: Twilight of The Golden Witch.

I've been saving up this review, cause I wanted to collect my thoughts. This chapter is really special. It breaks the Umineko formula, and gets it out of the park with a lot of storylines happening at the same time, and being able to mix them up in a perfect way. There's some moments that seem a little out of place, but even those are exceptional since they give character development. The Bernkastel game bit was magical. I genuinely wanted to solve it without clues, but I admit it was kinda hard. Still, I was able to solve it before the solution was spelled out for me. The interaction in this chapter is minimal, but my god if it isn't perfect. Specially the puzzles! It really felt like I was playing Layton again. And my god, the whole fucking ending. The last 2 or 3 hours of this chapter are unforgettable. It's some of the best writing I've seen, and it almost made me cry, cause I'll be damned if the ending wasn't beautiful,and very hurtful, WHY DID BEATRICE- nah, I won't give spoilers. Just saying: This wasn't the best chapter for me. But it is objectively the best chapter in Umineko.
