2.5/5 ★ – PhenomAnon's review of JETT: The Far Shore.
Frustrating. That’s the predominant word that comes to mind when I think about Jett: the Far Shore. It’s gameplay is frustrating you control a ship whose movement isn’t precise enough for the world it was designed to traverse and for a game ostensibly about exploring, the overly chatty NPCs do a lot of unnecessary explaining and restricting of your freedom to roam.
But most of all the game is frustrating because couched in all of that are flashes of something truly great and evocative. The brief linear first person segments in the game offer some stunning visuals and memorable imagery. The world and music capture the sense of excitement and anticipation of being the first to explore an new world but also show how it quickly devolves fear and hardship as you must fight to survive. And then it all just…ends with no tying up of loose ends and no mysteries solved.
I really wanted to like this game but unfortunately the game didn’t want to like me back.
