3/5 ★ – QuickPlay's review of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!.

DKC 3 is a solid game, though rightfully regarded as the least of the original trilogy. It has some of my favorite environments of the whole DKC series with a Pacific Northwest vibe, but ultimately not as much variety as the previous two entries. It doesn’t take the significant leaps in inventiveness that DKC2 had, but the free-roaming world map is fun. Levels in the last few worlds get more annoying than truly fun, often reliant on a frustrating gimmick (Barrel Drop Bounce is some BS). It’s also hard to believe this is the third DKC in as many years, and it’s understandable if Rare was tapped out that point. It’s still an all-timer run of a trilogy, and I'm jealous of the 90s SNES kids who unwrapped a new DKC every Christmas for three years straight.
