4/5 ★ – RawMetal's review of BioShock 2.

System: Xbox 360 Started: February 2010 Ended: April 2010 Flashback Review People never paid much attention to BioShock 2 since The first game and Infinite are the most popular games in the series. 2010 had a burst of good games that people were hyped for like Red Dead Redemption, Mafia II, Fallout New Vegas and even God of War III. The second installment to BioShock was hyped for a brief moment and after its release, the hype ended and people jumped into the next hyped release. I immediately got this game as soon as it came out after being a huge fan of the first game. I played through it and I enjoyed this game overall. Although I didn’t have the same joyous feeling I got from the original game. But there are notable things that I really like about this game. Instead of being dragged into Rapture and planning to get out, now it's about you as an original model of a Big Daddy finding your Little Sister while fighting these female versions of Big Daddy called Big Sisters. The main selling point in this is just you are a Big Daddy and they are always a staple in BioShock. I even forgot that there is actually online multiplayer which is really cool but during its time, I only played a little bit of it so it was short lived but I had a fun time playing that mode. I don’t say there is nothing bad about this game since it's almost identical to the first game but there are a few changes and tweaks that actually work based on story and gameplay. Instead of Andrew Ryan you have Sofia Lamb taking over Rapture as the next antagonist. Interesting villain but not as good as Ryan. Instead of playing as a Human Character, You are a BIg Daddy with a giant drill this time. Except that the Drill runs on fuel so you have to conserve it unless you are bombarded with enemy splicers or saving it for the Boss fights with LIttle Sisters as they are the highlight of this game and they are more vicious than any other BioShock baddies I fought against from the first game. The Hacking System has changed from a Pipe Mini-game to a QTE-style mini-game which is way better, especially the Camera mechanic. Only this time, you record the video instead of taking snapshots. I mentioned in my review of the first game that the Camera always halts the flow of that game. In Bioshock 2, they managed to solve that problem. Even though it's almost the same as the first game, I only have one minor complaint: it is just the endgame segment. In the first BioShock, you fight a Final Boss and it feels like a Finale on your adventures in Rapture. In this one, you have to fend off a few hordes of enemies like what you have been doing throughout this entire game, go to the Elevator, walk up the corridor, and that’s it. You finished BioShock 2. I remember that moment after beating it that made me say, “That’s It? I Finished the Game?” You do have more choices in this game than the first one that is related to the side-stories of the people of Rapture, especially the end result if you adopt or harvest the little sisters. Underrated, it deserves better and I recommend this game if you played the first game and want more BioShock goodness. People claimed that they like the second one as the best BioShock. I may slightly disagree with them personally, but to each their own. Maybe because its niche out of the three and I would say the Gameplay has improved as I mentioned with the Hacking system. At least there is an agreement that BioShock 2 is a great game. To me personally, they could have gone even better with it. Felt like it needed more of a kick. I actually never saw this game anywhere in the wild ever since I pre-ordered this game. There is the Complete Collection pack since it has all three BioShock games. Digital or not, Pick this up.
