2/5 ★ – RawMetal's review of Dragon Ball Z: Sagas.

System: Nintendo GameCube Started: 2005 Ended: 2005 Flashback Review Speaking of Beat 'em ups after my review of Dragon Ball GT: Transformations, Dragon Ball Z: Sagas was another in the genre except this time it's in 3rd person…and completely downgraded. Regardless of this being bad, I actually have good memories of playing it. I remember that we actually play video games in our family vehicle. We have the tech for playing console games on-the-go since the van had a small TV installed and we actually played this during our road trip. I remember me and my bro played this game as a 2-player co-op and actually finished while we were still on the road and we were bummed out as it was a short game. Then we switched to Melee and Gotcha Force to make up our time. You play as the Z-Warriors and you fight your way to the end level boss in a linear design as you get Z-coins to level up your character stats. It’s simple like any other beat 'em up games. Would you like to play a DBZ 3D Game where the characters don’t fly to their destinations and run to the finish with a weird running animation, fighting Saibamen and Cell Jr.'s and constantly use the same special attack like Kamehama over and over again? Sagas has that. There are no multiple attacks by the way. Looking back at it now, it was worse than I remembered. I didn’t think much of this game as a kid but now I know why I played the Budokai games more than this game at the time. And what really gets me upset with this game is that it did not cover the Majin Buu Arc. Just the Saiyan, Frieza and Android/Cell Saga. and this game was released in 2005. The Majin Buu Arc was finished a few years before this game was released so my guess is that Avalanche Software either ran out of time, budget, or didn’t see the story arc. Originally, I was going to give this 3-star game due to nostalgia and didn’t have any good or bad thoughts about it since at least it has co-op as an edge. It even has my boy, Broly as a special unlockable character. But looking back at it by watching multiple playthroughs and notice some bugs and frame rate drops, I would not recommend this since there are better Dragon Ball games than this. If given a choice, I’d rather play GT Transformations over this. If you want to play this game, then be my guest but at least play this with a friend who plays anything especially bad games. Strict and Snarky Co-Op and DBZ players will not enjoy this game and ask if they want to play something else. And playing this game by yourself will leave you disappointed.
