Flashback Review
Legos were one of my favorite Toy brands as a kid aside from collecting Action Figures, Nerf and Hot Wheels. And one of my favorite movie franchises is Star Wars. Put them together and you have one of the most unique games that focuses for a very young audience. Aside from those Previous Lego Video Games that were popular mostly on PC, Lego Star Wars: The Video Game created a new generation of Lego video games that followed suit based on this exact gameplay but with a different Lego theme based on Movies and Comic Books franchises like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, DC Universe and even Jurassic World.
Looking into this game, this aged pretty well by today’s standards. It does have Cartoon Humor as an added blend to this game and it works as part of the Lego Video Games franchise. As I mentioned before, this game is really unique as you play as Lego versions of your favorite Star Wars Characters and you play through the Prequel Trilogy just only in Lego Form. You play as a character in third person and as you go through the levels that tie with the story of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. You even get to play a Demo version of A New Hope if you unlock everything. You collect small Legos to add as a collection and those small Lego stud pieces that are supposed to be currency for unlocking new characters. I really was expected to have the original trilogy for this game at the time but there wasn’t, so it was guaranteed that there is going to be a sequel to cover the Original Trilogy of Star Wars. But still, I enjoyed this game as a kid and I’ll never forget the moment of fighting the 2nd player when you are at the Mustafar Level in Episode III if you play this on co-op.
This game is fun and it has its charm. However, this game is too easy since you can beat this game for at least a couple days, even if you plan to 100% it. Definitely recommend this to young kids who have their fill with watching the Star Wars movies. However, if you want the true Lego Star Wars Experience, I will only recommend getting the Complete Saga Version since it has episodes 1 through 6. You can even try playing the more recent Lego Star Wars games. But I’m not much of a fan of the Sequel Trilogy and I lost my feelings for the franchise since the release of The Last Jedi. But there are fans of it, so to each their own I suppose.
