5/5 ★ – RawMetal's review of Ninja Baseball Bat Man.

System: Arcade Started: April 13, 2023 Ended: April 13, 2023 Free Play Arcade Session - April 13, 2023: 8/12 The first time I heard of Ninja Baseball Bat Man was from The Angry Video Game Nerd video review and perfectly describes how crazy this game is. Even the name alone is what intrigues me already. It’s a trippy beat ‘em up about Ninjas with Baseball Influence and screams 1990’s with its hip music. Clearly if Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ditched their Ninja Weapons and found Baseball as their newfound hobby, then you get this game. The presentation of this game is a Grand Slam already since you are gonna get Ninjas and Baseball out of this. The arcade I went to actually has this game running and I had to play this game with no exceptions. The plot of this story is a baseball fever dream and I'm sure the devs were sniffing grinded Peanuts and Cracker Jacks under the dugout at a live Baseball game when making this. Everything in this game is Baseball. Baseball everywhere and references to actual baseball players. You play as these Ninja Baseball Bat Men (intended as more than one Bat Man) and locate the missing Baseball artifacts that are scattered across the States. Every Ninja Baseball Bat Man you play has special abilities. The Red one named Jose is the leader and straight forward all-around. The Green Ninja Batman is Ryno who has dual-wield Bats and his walking animation was funny. The Yellow Batman, Roger who is a hulking tank and the Blue one is for sure it’s Donatello of the group due to the Bo-Staff version of a Bat and he is the brains of the group. This game has the most creative and wackiest looking enemies and bosses that I’ve ever seen. Even the enemies in this game are Baseball. You fight Baseball Gloves, Baseball Bats. But at least they change it up as you fight pumpkin-Heads, Squids, Mini-fridges and Puppies weiding Tommy Guns. I even love the crazy boss design for this game especially the final boss which I won’t spoil and they even get a special fanfare music for their entrance. I really can’t say anything bad about this game. Maybe depending on your taste in games, if weirdness and comedy in games don’t interest you, then it’s clearly not for you. There is too much stuff going on screen so maybe you might get that epilepsy condition. Most of these enemies are goofy and you can tell this is a Japanese game. Indeed an underrated beat-em up and it's one of the best arcade games I’ve played. This game is also 4-player co-op but the cabinet I played on was the 2-player version. Play this with friends and would show this to Major League Baseball fanatics and see their reaction alone after telling them what this game is about. In fact, this game should be in every Baseball Stadium. For sure this deserves a re-release or even a sequel and would not be surprised if Dotemu and Wayforward would pick up this IP eventually and make a sequel/spin-off like what they did with Streets of Rage, TMNT and River City Ransom.
