5/5 ★ – RawMetal's review of Pokémon Emerald.

System: Game Boy Advance Started: May 2, 2005 Ended: 2005 Flashback Review Gen 3 was my main era in Pokémon because not only I played and finished both Ruby and Sapphire but I managed to play and finish the Emerald Version. Pokémon Emerald is an upgraded version to Ruby and Sapphire in terms of more content, Pokémon and story since they throw in both Team Magma and Team Aqua in one game in a goal to bring catastrophic weather conditions to Hoenn Regions. You can catch Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza in one game. And there are more than those three as you can even catch Latios/Latias and the Regis Pokémon. Emerald Version also added more post-game content notably the Battle Frontier where you get to battle in a Tournament in multiple buildings. After rereading the reviews for Ruby and Sapphire, I even forgot what other additions that were added in Gen 3 so I’ll say this: Gen 3 gives the introduction to Double Battles which is best known for in this era, the bicycles have been enhanced to make it possible to go into different terrains as shortcuts to your destination on foot, Berries were also enhanced as way to catch and find specific Pokémon easier and used for Beauty Pageants, and the ability to use Dive to explore the depths of the Hoenn region. This is also the first time I played this with an actual official Strategy Guide to see what I missed out and what Pokémon are discovered in the wild. And you need it too in order to catch the Regis Pokémon since it's pretty cryptic in order to get them. Let alone getting some tips on the Battle Frontier post game since it is challenging and it took me a long while to beat it too. In today’s times, you can just browse through the Internet on it. Pokémon Emerald is clearly the Definitive Edition to Ruby and Sapphire. Furthermore, this is the game that should be played if people are willing to play Gen 3 at any given point in time. You can play the remakes Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby to get that graphic enhancement since it does look pretty cool in 3D. Since I have not played Gen 2, and Gen 5-9 so I’m totally behind on it and I’m sure there are veteran fans of Pokémon claiming that the later Gens were better. So hopefully I’ll be following suit.
