Flashback Review
The mid-2000’s was a great era for Star Wars since the circle was complete (Before the Disney merger happened) not only the prequel trilogy was great but so were the video games. After seeing Revenge of the Sith in theaters and literally the best entry outside of the original trilogy movie, there was also a time where most games were based on movie adaptations such as Iron Man, Michael Bay Transformers, The Incredibles and many others. Star Wars Episode III the Game was one that I think it's actually a solid entry in a sea of video game adaptations of blockbuster movies.
Game is pretty straightforward as you just go through the story of Episode III of Star Wars. There are a few things that made me question this. Usually, it is the ad-libbing of the story. The game will play movie clips from the actual movie and minutes later it cuts to the gameplay cutscenes as if the story devs had to make it up such as the boss fight between Anakin Skywalker and Mace Windu as well as the Jedi Temple Raid during Order 66. It's sort of as if it's playing like a fanfiction game. Another moment in the game is mainly the cutscene voice acting itself. Looking at them, I can tell the voice acting feels pretty wooden and hollow, it's laughable. Obviously, they are not the actors from the movie so that pretty much narrows it down.
On the bright side, the devs even throw in actual characters such as Cin Drallig and the newest character Serra Keto which eventually after the release of this game, she got one more appearance in a Star Wars Dark Horse Comics Issue afterwards. There is even a 2-player co-op for this game, but it only focuses on mission-based co-op mode and not story mode co-op which really sucks since I want to play story mode with co-op. Even Lego Star Wars has that co-op story mode feature. I don’t play much on the multiplayer mode unless you have competitive friends who love fighting games and like to play anything good and bad games. But so far it looks like an underappreciated feature in a Star Wars game in a one-vs-one beat down except for that PlayStation 1 game.
A solid entry, but there are better Star Wars games. This game can be repetitive since it is considered a beat-em up as you slice up droids until you get to the actual jedi battles therefore leading to button mashing and sometimes the game actually throws you a difficulty curve as it can be pretty difficult when you actually fight the bosses since I remember always won a boss fight with a fraction of my health left and I even upgraded my stats too. I would say pick this up at a bargain bin if you see it.
