4.5/5 ★ – Rdrzone's review of Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.
After the events of Sands of Time, we see and control the prince once again. But 7 years has passed by and the prince we were so close to in Sands of Time is no more, he is more dark, aggressive and blood thirsty in this one. The story revolves around price trying to stop the creation of sands in the first place as the result of his action has brought the time guardian chasing after him.
As for the gameplay, similar to previous game in the title, the parkour, puzzles elements and skills(time related) still remains and the major upgrade would be the combat system. Using different combos to take down enemies is fun.
The jumps between past and present may put off some people, and is really hard to incorporate rightly into a game, but for me, Warrior within did a wonderful job in doing that. With the ability to access "almost" every place in the game giving it a short open world feel with shifts in time is really impressive.
The the secret weapons, health upgrades and the two ending in the game is also a nice touch(even though those who have played Two Thrones know what is the true ending).
The grey dull looks, the BGM(godsmark) the dialogues of prince all mix together to give a very different price, who is hell bend on surviving. Later on in the game, the nice little twist in the story is also very impressive(no spoilers). Sure there are many plots that leave the player in confusion as to what is happening and why, but the lore is pretty much clear if you do just tiny little digging around.
Overall, this is one of my favorite titles in POP series. Those who have finished Sands of Time and haven't tried Warrior Within, i recommend giving it a go.
