4.5/5 ★ – RealOJ's review of Dispatch.

Dispatch was a breath of fresh air! It took me roughly 8 hours to finish all 8 episodes so it's a well paced first game from AdHoc, a team composed of former Telltale devs. The identity is there and it's clear they have experience in this field, I would've liked there to have been more moments where the long term choices came to fruition (a lot of the onus on player choice happens in the last episode and feels complicated in the plot beats finishing out) but overall does a good job and keeping the game dynamic and different enough where I feel engaged to replay at a later time so I can make different decisions. The voice work is fantastic, Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, Erin Yvette, the entire team really make you believe in the characters and their motivations. Some of the writing can come off as trite, or corny but I liked it and most of it worked for me. Can't wait for Adhoc to do more, I think from a larger scale it would be unique if they could expand upon the choice-making a la Detroit Become Human (which is a very ambitious task), but I think even if their next game just had slightly more rapid impacts, that would be enough of an improvement to raise this from a 9 to a 10. Super solid first take and hopefully we see a resurgence of this genre!!
