3/5 ★ – Reus147's review of Call of Cthulhu.
It was after playing the game that I read Call of Cthulhu for the first time, although I already had previously heard of it in numerous occasions. I believe that the myth, although altered, has been nicely translated into the game and integrated to its story, making for a fascinating plot. The dark, eerie and moody atmosphere is to be expected and ties the whole game together, whilst getting to investigate and come across a handful of interesting personalities in your quest to solve the mystery offers the ability to throw even more Lovecraftian elements into the mix. However, my main criticisms about the game come in both the field of gameplay and story. In many occasions I found the camera shake and movement to be a bit too disorienting leading to short moments of frustration. Of course, I understand that this has to do with the theme of the game. Most importantly though, I believe that the story was a bit stale, just like the protagonist who lacked flare and personality although his distinct characteristics. The ending was also not to my liking, but I applaud the existence of multiple endings, some better than others.
