3/5 ★ – Reus147's review of Outcast: Second Contact.
I played outcast second contact as the result of getting the game for free and not having anything else to play at the time (except for a huge backlog). The idea of playing the remake of a space game from 1999 intrigued me, although, having actually played the game I can safely say that it is more like a soft graphic remaster of the original, as the graphics definitely do not resemble anything up to date and the controls suffer in every department, including shooting, movement and navigation. However, although I never actually mastered the controls, I found the actual game to be quite interesting, especially for the time it was originally published. The different environments, although mostly flat and uninteresting for modern standards, offered a nice variation, whilst there was plenty of optional conversation to be had with npcs. The difficulty of the game generally appears to be easy and never really challenged me. I need to note of course that the game did not run great and was plagued by glitches, even not letting me progress when close to the ending. Looking back at it in retrospect, it was a nice experience but I would not play it again, whilst it might have scored a few more points just because I really tried to like it.
