2.5/5 ★ – ReverieVagabond's review of Blinx: The Time Sweeper.

I hate that I didn't like this game. It's charming and it's something that could only really come from the early 2000s era. But because it can only come from that era, it's also a huge pain to play. I really wish that this game aged better because I would always hear about it being a hidden gem but it feels like it just disrespects the player too much. The game feels sluggish, which in terms of movement is fine, but the important part is the camera. It can be too slow to the point where tracking enemies – especially in a large group – can be so difficult you just end up dying all the time. And if that doesn't get you, then accidental side-flips and backflips into enemies and nearby pits will get you. Survive all of that and the game will probably just kill you by destroying the ground beneath you as a way of trying to justify the time manipulation mechanics. Scarcely did it ever feel like a death was my fault, but instead the game's. It just became frustrating. It sucks because I like the character and environment designs. I find the presentation of the game to be fun: the shop UI flows so well, the music can be oddly bumping; if the gameplay wasn't as clunky it would easily be a true hidden gem. But it's not. Instead, it's just a disappointment.
