4/5 ★ – Royvlution's review of Star Fox 64.

This game is, as I see it, the best star fox game in the series. That’s a bold statement but its got a lot of evidence to back it up. It’s easy to pick up do a run through of the game then go play something else, or play it again. It’s very replayable due to the many levels and path you have to earn, not choose but actually earn. For example the earliest extra path is in the first level, you have to show you know how to fly pretty well by going through rings on the ground and if you do that it takes you to a new boss fight. Most of if not all levels have this to some extent and if your good enough to get all the secret levels then you get an alternate ending to the game, and a harder form of andross. I didn’t know this as a kid so when he changed forms I was freaking out and was start struck that it was different. It’s just so cool to see in such an old game, and I wish it could be recaptured in a modern day star fox. Also sloppy can permanently die if you screw up enough times and that’s so cool to see a permanent debuff to your team. Overall though the story is great, the game play is solid with a few rough parts, and the secrets are awesome.
