3/5 ★ – SaintzGB's review of SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated.

Another childhood gem, this time from my PS2 era. I never actually played any of the other Spongebob games, but really why would I when this game is so good? The story was good fun, felt like a normal episode but just turned into a game, so exactly what you need from a game adaptation. I like the range of characters and I think they choose the playable characters perfectly. Not too many and each fill a specific niche. The humour honestly is pretty good, although sometimes they use the same dialogue over and over (such as returning Patrick's lost socks) but the section with Patrick's dream is so funny to me even now. I think they nailed the silliness of the show without forgetting that it's a game so you can try other comedy gags too. It was sort of tough for a kids game though. Not as bad as something like Simpsons Hit N Run, but there were a couple of tough areas such as the Squidward dream section. That dream section was more like a nightmare to 7 year old me. The boss battles were okay, nothing special. Collectibles were sort of annoying, mainly because it sometimes was a little unclear what you had to actually do to get them. But I'm glad they kept it to just 2 types of items: spatulas and socks. And the spatulas advance the story too, so they are very relevant throughout. Overall, a fun time, wouldn't mind another go through some time.
