4.5/5 ★ – SamScotMosher's review of Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course.

I’d like thirds if that’s possible.
The quick take: “Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course” is more “Cuphead,” so it’s amazing. Not only that, it may be the best set of “Cuphead” levels so far.
Pros:
- The animation and music are better than ever, with Studio MDHR allowed to focus on just six core bosses. Moves are clearly telegraphed (with improved background details), leaving few deaths feeling frustrating.
- Ms. Chalice is a delightful gameplay addition, with her extra hit point, dodge dash, and double jump not making the game necessarily easier, just different and worth experiencing in the base game.
- The bosses nicely show all sides of “Cuphead” - a shoot ‘em up level, tough platforming, dodge-heavy fights, and suprising phase changes.
- Studio MDHR rightfully knew the run ‘n’ gun levels were the worst part of the base game, so they are nowhere to be found here.
- The secret boss is a fun bit of worldbuilding and exciting side content to make the DLC feel even deeper.
Cons:
- The parry-only bosses are fun in concept but not in execution, requiring even more split-second reaction skills than those that are needed in regular fights.
- The perspective shifting phase in the Howling Aces fight is too much of a mindfuck so late in the fight.
