4.5/5 ★ – Sharff's review of Splatoon 3.

Probably the best in the series, but I do have some critiques. Haven’t played much of the campaign so I won’t be commenting on that but I heard it was good! Firstly, communication between players isn’t emphasized enough. Splatoon is the kind of game where you’ll most likely win if your team is coordinating your approach to the battle. If you’re on a call with friends, its solid. But if you’re not, then its difficult to do that. Obviously I’m not saying to add a voice chat outside of your party, don’t in fact! But some more prompts would be nice. Instead of only the 2 they give you on the Dpad, why not put more on the other buttons, or better yet, add them as things you can customize and earn. Its a small thing but telling your teammates that someones on the turf or to rush the opposing teams turf would go a long way. Secondly, there isn’t enough online stuff to do. Theres Turf Wars, Anarchy Mode (Ranked battles), and Salmon Run. These are all fun, but the lack of more modes makes trying to level up yourself or the catalog kinda boring. Especially because in terms of consistently doing so, turf wars are the best way. Anarchy levels it more yes, when you win, which can be hard, and salmon run doesn’t level them as easily either. It feels like they want you to play for long periods of time, but without variety, its easy to get burned out. An easy solution would be to just add more casual modes. And a small but very good change would be to separate anarchy into more selectable options so the player at least has some say in which anarchy game they wanna play. Having the game choose and seeing a game mode in anarchy you don’t like kinda sucks. Outside of that, I think the game is solid. I think the game could be out done by another potential sequel, and I’ll be here for it.
